A three-storey brick warehouse built in 1925 for the hardware and machinery merchants Eliza Tinsley and Co who had occupied the site since 1900. Prior to that it contained the Centennial Coffee Palace. The warehouse was designed by architect Robert Sloan and continued the tradition of large warehouse associated with agricultural machinery established in the western end of Bourke Street in the 1870s. As with its adjoining neighbours the building is strongly associated with the agricultural implement business established in this part of Bourke Street and associated with the Spencer Street railway station. Pratt's warehouse (originally McDowall and Gray's warehouse) provides a historically significant rare example of a two-storey masonry warehouse of the 19th century in its original form with pulleys, hooks and hoists. A three-storey brick and bluestone warehouse built in 1879 for the woolbrokers P B Curtain and Co. The architect was John Flanagan. This is an elegant and large series of warehouses associated with wool sales from the 1870s till the First World War. The Bourke Street building is designed in a heavy Roman revival style and includes detailing indicating its association with wool (e.g. ramsheds). Classified: 06/06/1994

The former warehouse is constructed in bluestone. It has two floors and extensive cellars. The architect was Leonard Terry and the building was erected in 1859 for Messrs. Levicks and Piper, wholesale ironmongers. This is one of the oldest and finest bluestone warehouses in the CBD.
